Barcelona presidential hopeful says Messi return could generate €200M: “He wants to come home”
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is set to face increased competition in next year’s club elections, with economist Marc Ciria emerging as another challenger alongside Victor Font.
Ciria has unveiled a plan centered on restoring Barcelona’s financial stability — with Lionel Messi playing a key role in his vision. The presidential hopeful believes Messi’s return is essential to the club’s economic recovery and outlined his strategy in a recent interview with Cadena SER.
Running under the banner *Moviment 42*, Ciria is positioning his project as a locally rooted alternative to the current leadership.
“Moviment 42 was born in Les Corts, with many members from the area around Camp Nou,” Ciria said. “We’re also people who really like numbers. We started by offering financial solutions, so why not put a number to the movement?”
