Wiz Khalifa Sentenced to 9 Months in Prison in Romania for Weed Possession.
Here’s a clean, publication-ready rewrite with a neutral news tone:
Wiz Khalifa has been sentenced to nine months in a Romanian prison, more than a year after his arrest on drug possession charges, the Associated Press reported, citing Romania’s national news agency, Agerpres.
The rapper, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, 38, was headlining the Beach, Please! festival in Costinesti, Romania, in July 2024 when authorities say he possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis and consumed some of it on stage.
The sentence was handed down Thursday, Dec. 18, by the Constanta Court of Appeal after Khalifa was convicted of possessing dangerous drugs for personal use without authorization, according to the AP, citing Agerpres.
PEOPLE has contacted Romania’s anti-organized crime prosecutors, DIICOT, as well as Khalifa’s representative for comment.
The ruling, which Agerpres said is final, overturns an earlier decision by a lower court in Constanta County that fined Khalifa 3,600 lei (about $830) in April 2025 for illegal drug possession. Prosecutors appealed that ruling and sought a harsher penalty.
